Where do you obtain your Continuing Education credits?  Personally, I enjoy getting credits at national meetings because it allows me the opportunity to meet with friends/colleagues I haven't seen in a long time.  Unfortunately, this does have its drawbacks.  After registration fees, airfare, hotels and meals, the costs pile up pretty quick.  This is especially the case if you are attending multiple meetings throughout the year.

Depending on your state, practitioners do have the opportunity to get some of this great education online.  Here at, we are working on offering this for our users.  Through ARBO and a sponsorship with the SUNY New York State College of Optometry, we hope to go live with our CE course material later this year.  Look to future newsletters and other industry related journals for more information.

Alden Optical Acquires FLUORESOFT®-0.35%

Alden Optical recently announced that it acquired FLUORESOFT®-0.35% fluorescent solution from Holles Laboratories, Inc.  This is great news to specialty contact lens fitters, as this high molecular weight fluorescent solution is used by many contact lens practices nationwide.

FLUORESOFT has its traditional uses of assessing anterior segment staining in addition to applantion tonometry, but contact lens fitters find its high molecular weight to be even more useful.  This added feature enables practitioners to evaluate the lens fit without concern for absorption by soft lens materials.
