This has been a great summer for the presbyopic market. As manufacturers help us continue to meet the needs of our patients, we have two new additions to add to the fold.
Bausch + Lomb recently received market clearance for the Biotrue ONEday for Presbyopia (nesofilcon A) soft contact lenses. Now having the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval, eye care practitioners can now take advantage of a combination of features they have grown to appreciate from B+L. The new Biotrue ONEday for Presbyopia combines the comfort and benefits of the original Biotrue ONEday, with the optical 3-Zone Progressive design of the PureVision®2 Multi-Focal for Presbyopia.
Unilens also added to the presbyopic market with their addition of the C-Vue® ADDvantage™ Multifocal for Presbyopia. This new aspheric disposable silicone hydrogel contact lens is available in a High and a Low ADD and power ranges from +6.00 to -10.00. Designed for monthly replacement, the new product incorporates Unilens’ highly Advanced next-generation multifocal contact lens design technology, which allows for ease of fit by providing a consistent near ADD power across all power profiles.
Are you taking advantage of these and other multifocal contact lens products in your practice? As indicated by IBIS World, the success of the optometric profession “is mainly due to resilient demand from an aging population…” Eye care professionals as a whole should take advantage of that knowledge and continue to be at the forefront of contact lens technology. Keeping your patients in the latest and greatest will only improve your practice productivity.
